New herb wall in VIPZ! school restaurant
The beautiful herb wall in the Albeda school restaurant, VIPZ, was unveiled on Monday, 12 March. Amanda van Woerden, Deputy Director of Albeda Horecacollege and Adriaan van der Giessen, project manager at Rotterdam Food Cluster, unveiled the green wall together.

Redevelopment of the Rotterdam Wholesale Market
In December 2016, Urban Industrial (UI) acquired the Wholesale Market, which was previously owned by the Municipality of Rotterdam. Rotterdam Food Cluster talked to business developer Robert van ’t Blik about the redevelopment plans: from the construction of production kitchens for food start-ups and caterers to the creation of office space and services for educational parties, logistics partners and e-commerce businesses.

Rotterdam Food Cluster congratulates Westland on the World Horti Center
On 7 March 2018, Her Majesty Queen Máxima performed the official opening of the World Horti Center in Naaldwijk. The collaboration between the education sector, the research community, the government and the business community makes this global knowledge and innovation centre, in the heart of the Dutch greenhouse horticulture industry, the first of its kind in the world.

Verstegen joins the Smart Logistics pilot
The Rotterdam Region strives for sustainable and smart food chains. Rotterdam Food Cluster – along with a few companies in the regional food sector – is working on ways to organise logistics more efficiently. Verstegen, herb processor and manufacturer of sauces and herb mixes, has also joined the initiative by making data available which enables a simulation to be carried out in conjunction with data from other participants (ABC Westland, Greenery, and Snijpunt).
