Tour of Rotterdam food companies during Amsterdam Produce Show
On Friday 17 November, during the Amsterdam Produce Show and Conference (APS), Rotterdam Food Cluster organised 'The Highlights of Rotterdam Tour.' Representatives of the international fruit and vegetable sector were introduced to the Rotterdam food sector during guided tours of the Markthal, Schmidt Zeevis and Coolfresh.

Start-ups and Grown-ups even more successful together!
On 8 November, more than 140 visitors from the food sector and related sectors attended the 'Rotterdam seeks food start-ups' event in the Rotterdam Science Tower. By bringing together this diverse group of students, starters, growers and established entrepreneurs, Rotterdam Food Cluster aims to promote innovation within the food sector. Folk philosopher, Bas Haring, shared his vision on food in the future. Should our production be large-scale or small? Peter Duijvestijn of Duijevestijn Tomaten demonstrated the company's innovation and approach to new markets through the establishment of start-ups, in collaboration with other entrepreneurs. During the floor dates, we were introduced to Spireaux, Omnigen and Blocklab, while Rotterdam Food Cluster explained what they can do for start-ups and grown-ups. General conclusion of the day: it is vital to encourage cooperation between grown-ups and start-ups if we want to continue to innovate.

Rotterdam Talks Food: Euro Caps investing in employer branding
Euro Caps develops Nespresso and Dolce Gusto-compatible coffee capsules in two plants in Rotterdam. These capsules are sold in almost 40 countries worldwide. In only five years, the company has grown from 6 to over 450 employees and its ambition is to sustain this growth. In addition to hiring extra staff, partnerships and innovation are important company pillars. "I believe we can develop coffee capsules for a great many more single-serve systems" Nils Clement, co-founder and CEO of Euro Caps, says.

Thousands of visitors at World Food Day Rdam
On Sunday 15 October 2017, the busy World Food Day took place in and around the Market Hall. On World Food Day Rdam, thousands of (international) visitors took a look behind the scenes of food entrepreneurs from the Rotterdam region. Apart from excursions to 12 food companies and the port, there were lots of activities pertaining to the themes of technology, local products, trade, brain and health.

40 Food companies participating in World Food Day Rdam
On Sunday 15 October 2017, the Rotterdam version of World Food Day will be organised in and around the Markthal. Rotterdam Talks Food: Fish from around the world from the Spaanse Polder
From its base in the Spaanse Polder, Koninklijke Schmidt Zeevis imports high-quality fish from all parts of the world and then sends the fish out across the world. The search for suitable personnel continues to present challenges, but stimulates the local employment market. Schmidt Zeevis wants more people to eat fish and is also tapping into new target groups with the development of an app for top athletes. On World Food Day Rotterdam on 15 October, Schmidt Zeevis will showcase the true definition of quality, along with all the possibilities of fish.
